EDP X-Change 2024, hosted by the EDP in partnership with KAS and GCRO, is a one-day curated space for thought leaders and development practitioners to unlock the ideas and partnerships needed to tackle some of South Africa’s most urgent challenges.

Under the theme ‘Catalysing Change through Partnership: Enhancing Institutional Capabilities’, EDP X-Change 2024 offers a rare opportunity for a dynamic cross-sectoral exchange on how the concrete work of change happens between the various actors central to the partnerships needed.
The vibrant programme foregrounds engaging with big ideas, generating new thinking and actions, and connecting to people from across society to advance action towards some of South Africa’s most pressing challenges.
Programme
Below is a high-level description of the EDP X-Change 2024 programme. The event has been intentionally designed to spark ideas and partnerships for change within and between participants.
- Inspire: A keynote panel of pioneers will share their big ideas about empowering governing institutions and boosting the capabilities required for the Just Transition in South Africa. Participants will have the opportunity to hear and discuss innovative concepts.
- Empower: A series of thought labs facilitated by leading thinkers and innovators on the themes of space, economy, mobility, and coalitions. Here, participants will engage to collectively co-develop new thinking and action through partnership approaches.
- Collaborate: A networking event where participants can lay the foundations for future partnering with thought leaders and practitioners from across local, provincial, and national government, the private sector, academia, and civil society.
