Kelly is a Project Officer working in the EDP’s Energy & Climate Programme. She draws on her extensive experience in this field to support the programme’s management, business development and research. Kelly is supporting several projects including a partnership with Resilient Cities and the City of Cape Town to undertake feasibility studies to develop load shedding resilient community hubs, a GIZ-supported project to pilot a Green Hydrogen Community Development Toolkit, and the City-supported Athlone Power Station redevelopment.
Kelly is a sustainable development practitioner and enterprise development specialist with over ten years of experience in renewable energy project development, development finance, social justice and human rights, with an overarching impact on economic development.
In 2023, Kelly was awarded the Mandela Washington Fellowship as one of 700 fellows on the African continent, attending the leadership programme at Florida Gulf Coast University in the United States of America.
She also received the First Generation Scholarship from the University of Amsterdam in 2022 and was selected as the South African candidate for the Women in Wind Global Leadership Program 2020-2021 under the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).
Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environment and Development (Stellenbosch University), a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Environmental Management (UNISA), and a Masters of Management in Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation (University of the Witwatersrand).
