Barbara Hogan
Previous Minister of Public Enterprises and Minister of Health
Named as one of the 100 most influential thinkers in the world by Time magazine in 2011, Barbara has vast experience working within government and civil society as well as the private sector. She has a deep understanding of economics and applied economics (subjects she studied during her 10 years in prison on charges of High Treason for her political work for the ANC).
Barbara served as the Secretary-General of the ANC in Gauteng (1990 to 1992) before joining the Development Bank of Southern Africa in 1993. She was a Member of Parliament from 1994 to 2008, appointed Minister of Health in 2008 and as Minister of Public Enterprises from 2009 to 2010.
She is a respected national leader with a deep commitment to the Western Cape, where she now lives.
